It’s hard, isn’t it?
Challenging our perceptions, reframing our thoughts, acknowledging our biases, and making ourselves vulnerable to one another.
We, the Mollard Consulting team, are doing this work in partnership with others. Not just because we are consultants and we want to offer the best counsel to our clients, but because we are human.
We want to learn, grow, and understand more every day — individually, and as a company that is comprised of six white women ages 24 to 48.
We are inspired by many in this effort, including:
Our colleague, Deborah Aubert Thomas, President and CEO of Philanthropy Ohio who wrote a Mollard Consulting guest column on board diversity, which was one of our most viewed articles last quarter.
Our partner, Paula Penn-Nabrit, President of PN&A, who is artfully engaging our team on a journey of discovery as we deepen our understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Our mentor, Lisa Courtice, President and CEO of United Way of Central Ohio, who is leading by example with policy and pilot programs designed to increase board diversity.
Our collaborator, Matthew Goldstein, CEO of Besa, who created a racial equity program to deepen civic engagement in anti-racism work.
Thought leaders at BoardSource, who are driving sector change and whose resources on diversity, equity, and inclusion are the basis of our bibliographies.
Our clients, including Angel Harris, Executive Director of Dress for Success Columbus, whose passion for lifting women out of poverty is beyond compare; Dawn Tyler Lee, Interim Executive Director at CelebrateOne and Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Andy Ginther, who is highly effective at elevating all voices; and Gina Ginn, CEO of Columbus Early Learning Centers, whose tireless efforts teach us that increased access to early learning is also about reducing racial inequity.
And so, we do the hard work because this work matters. The more we expand our understanding and our circle, the more authentic we can be to our clients and to each other.
