OhioDance is a connector for multiple forms of dance to a broad array of users. It is a statewide service agency promoting the power of dance, supporting dance artists, educators and organizations, and advancing the field through festivals, performances, workshops, and a major research initiative called the Virtual Dance Collection.
The staff is small but mighty – one full time executive with contract support and interns. OhioDance engaged with Mollard Consulting through capacity building grants received from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and Ohio Arts Council. They needed help articulating what was next and how to get to that there given their resources.
Mollard Consulting wrote a development plan, which was comprehensive with budget analysis, strategies for both earned and contributed income, and a case for support. Our team facilitated a board retreat, researched potential funders and supported grant writing, but also coached and counseled the Executive Director.
She had a vision to create an online repository of Ohio’s dance history, and through our work together, the organization launched a major initiative of conversations around the state to determine the most significant artistic developments in the field of dance, curate that narrative, and design a website.
The Virtual Dance Collection has now received federal funding and is in the process of being implemented. We can’t wait to see it become a reality and we have to acknowledge the role that government support of the arts plays in making our communities more culturally rich.Mollard Consulting is honored to be a capacity building consultant for OAC, GCAC, and other funders.
OhioDance has had the great pleasure to work with Kerri Mollard and Mollard Consulting since 2014. Kerri is intelligent, resourceful and dedicated to an organization’s success. Mollard Consulting was able to assist OhioDance in the creation of a compelling new project. Her advice and recommendations have been instrumental to our success. Kerri led a board retreat and created a development plan that we are currently implementing. We look forward to working with Kerri in the future. – Jane D’Angelo, Executive Director, OhioDance

The Ohio Arts Council also engaged Mollard Consulting to host a capacity building webinar on planning and budgeting for fundraising success.
One participant said, “I loved this webinar! You presented very useful tools that I can implement immediately. The best part is that this will help me break down and quantify what we need to do and how I can enlist board members to help us reach our goals.”
Another commented, “The donor retention spreadsheet was really helpful in learning how to communicate to superiors what a realistic fundraising goal is.”
