Leadership. Community. New Albany.

Mollard Consulting was proud to serve as presenting sponsor of the New Albany Chamber’s annual Community Update Breakfast yesterday morning.

What a perfect venue to introduce Board Building, and here’s why.

Leadership matters.

Whether the CEO of a global corporation or a teacher in the classroom, yesterday’s conversation highlighted how important every leader is to the health of a community. Mayor Sloan Spalding emphasized Amgen and the billions in economic development investments, and Superintendent Michael Sawyers shared the news that New Albany Plain Local Schools earned another 5-star rating from the state. None of which is accomplished without dedicated leaders at all levels.

Community support.

For decades, The New Albany Company has donated land and financial support to community assets such as our connected system of parks and green spaces, and has partnered with The New Albany Community Foundation to fund initiatives. At the breakfast, Tom Rubey announced a $5 million investment in a project to benefit the development of athletic fields for the schools. This level of generosity creates unprecedented opportunities.

Talent proximity.

New Albany has no shortage of creative, entrepreneurial, and business talent in all sectors of industry, including its thriving small business community. Mollard Consulting has called New Albany home for 15 years and Board Building is a partnership with two other small businesses – Buckeye Innovation, which designed the custom software and PRISM Marketing, which designed the website and marketing materials. Our team is able to meet client needs because of partners like Brad Griffith and Michelle Adams, who are also my neighbors and friends.

Supported connections.

The 2025 class of Leadership New Albany celebrated its graduation at the breakfast. I had the pleasure of providing a session on board governance to this wonderful group of community-minded people. It was also a reminder that leadership development programs are important tools for personal and professional growth, which benefits more than the individual person. My hope is that every one of these graduates chooses to serve on a nonprofit board or a local government board or commission.

So, what does all of this have to do with Board Building?

Research tells us that employee engagement in the United States is at a 10-year low, and that employees are searching for meaning and purpose in their work. Companies often experience high turnover, and that attracting and retaining talent is a competitive advantage.

Board Building matches, trains, and supports individuals interested in serving on nonprofit boards with nonprofits who are seeking passionate and connected board members. It also partners with businesses and employers who are searching for ways to increase employee engagement.

Nonprofit board service is a leadership development and talent solution that has a profound impact because nonprofits are meeting deep community needs, and this is a challenging time in our society.

Board Building is the bridge to support employers, individuals, and organizations who care about making a difference. We are building more than just boards. We are building leaders, skills, capacity, networks, community, and impact.

Let me know if we can be your partner as you seek to deepen your support of whatever community you call home. We are proud to call New Albany ours.
