Tomorrow is The Columbus Foundation’s Big Table, which is designed as a day of connection and kindness.
In years past, The Big Table invited people to gather in person, but this year, the call is to connect with others in virtual conversation, by offering assistance, or through volunteer action.
While Mollard Consulting has hosted in-person conversations in the past, we were motivated to do something different this year. Our team is committed to serving the community through the following activities:
- Participating in tomorrow’s CreativeMornings conversation on the topic of “transit.” Discussion will surround how we move from one place to another in this time of tumult and change and how it affects each of us socially, emotionally, and physically.
- Engaging with Besa to find meaningful volunteer opportunities. One favorite so far has been the Bread of Life Food Pantry, where one of our team members will distribute food boxes tomorrow. Other Besa-inspired activities have included packing face masks for the City of Columbus, mulching playgrounds, planting gardens, and making cards for Goodwill Columbus.
- Two of our team members are new volunteers for LifeCare Alliance’s Meals on Wheels One is participating during The Big Table and another volunteers with her daughter through her middle school (we love that the school allows time out of class to engage in community service). The deliveries have inspired important conversations about the needs of our neighbors.
- Our virtual office hours at the start of the pandemic were pro bono consultations with any nonprofit who needed to talk through a challenge or opportunity they were facing. We have continued that same spirit of lending our expertise through webinars and training sessions.
Connecting with each other through conversation, assistance, and action is meaningful and empowering, especially when so much of what’s happening is beyond our control. Giving of ourselves is an act of abundance, and abundance can only be created when we are in community. We invite you to join us in acts of service because we truly are stronger together.
