I never get tired of seeing the wonder in a child’s eyes during this time of year. Whether it’s the lights and decorations, presents under a tree, or meeting Santa himself, the look on their faces is priceless.
There is another wonder of the season that always amazes me, too. It’s the heart and hard work of the nonprofit sector and the generosity of donors and volunteers.
Nonprofit employees work tirelessly and often without recognition, but their service to the community this year has been extraordinary. They continue to manage pandemic operations and a continuously increasing need, yet they are doing so with diminished resources.
The nonprofit sector is not immune from staffing shortages that other industries are experiencing. They are also not immune from the supply chain issues and other economic pressures, but they can’t raise prices or cut services. They are under immense pressure, and I want to acknowledge their herculean efforts.
In the last few weeks, our clients have received philanthropic gifts that total millions of dollars. The outpouring of support from donors has been extraordinary. Thank you to everyone — from the lead gift of a capital campaign to the first-time Giving Tuesday donor, your philanthropic support is making a difference. Your support is wonderful.
And the volunteers. You continue to show up, with a smile and a big heart, to do what needs to be done whenever and wherever it’s needed. I hear the stories from our clients, and I see the efforts on social media. Your investment of time and energy is exactly what’s needed, especially when the staff is so tired.
The wonder of the nonprofit sector never ceases to amaze.
On behalf of everyone at Mollard Consulting, we wish you peace and joy this holiday season.
